ATTENTION RESIDENTS: Notice Regarding Upcoming Waste Management Trash & Recycling Collection Changes

Dear Residents of West View Borough,

Effective February 13th, 2024, Waste Management will implement semi-automated, every-other-week recycling collection with a standardized, wheeled cart and weekly collection for trash with a standardized, wheeled cart.

Service Guidelines

• Your trash and recycling will continue to be picked up on your regular service day.
• Please place your trash and recycling carts where you currently place your materials for collection.
• With automated collection, all materials must fit inside the WM trash or recycling cart with the lid firmly closed - no extra bags or material outside the cart will be collected. Resident-owned containers cannot be serviced.

Recycling cart with blue lid - Please break down cardboard before placing it inside your cart. Do not bag your recyclables - place them directly in your cart. No materials outside the cart will be collected.

Trash cart with black lid - Please bag your trash and tie the bags before placing them into your cart. No materials outside the cart will be collected.

Have your carts at the curb after 6pm the night before or no later than 6am on your collection day.

Important Information

Use only the WM provided carts for trash and recycling. Beginning in February, no materials outside the carts or resident owned containers will be collected. Your trash and recycling will continue to be picked up on your regular service day. Residents should place their new trash and recycling carts where they currently place their materials for collection. Our teams will provide service with semi-automated collection.

Every third week of the month, WM will pick up bulk items. In addition, starting in April, every third Saturday of the month, WM will collect yard waste.

Would you like to exchange your large 96-gallon trash cart for a smaller 64- or 32-gallon cart? If so, contact West View Borough at 412-931-2800 ext. 114 or visit us at www.wvboro.com and place your request there.

This is a onetime exchange. Keep in mind if trash or recyclables do not fit in the cart that items placed alongside the carts will not be collected. You can also downsize your recycle cart from a 64- to a 32-gallon, again this is a onetime swap out option.

To obtain an extra cart: Do not call the Borough if this is your request. This must be done by calling WM at (800) 866-4460 and say “service change” (Additional monthly fee applies).

Once again, starting February 13th, 2024, recycling collection will change to biweekly (every other week). Trash collection will remain weekly. Both trash and recycling collection will be picked up on your regular service day. All materials must be placed inside the WM-issued carts. Resident-owned containers cannot be serviced. No materials outside the carts will be collected. A brochure containing all the above information will be sent out to residents in the next week. You can view a copy of this brochure below.
