West View Park Exhibition

Event Date:
Wednesday, June 22, 2022 (All day) to Friday, September 30, 2022 (All day)

In conjunction with the West View Historical Society, the McCandless/Northern Allegheny Heritage Center is hosting a display of West View Park objects and memorabilia through the end of September. Featuring original art work, a carousel panel, windows etched with scenes from the park, photographs, and personal items from the Harton family, this exhibition honors the 45th anniversary of the closure of the park in 1977. Admission is free to all.

In addition, the new book “West View Park: The Story of the T.M. Harton Company” by Mike Funyak is also available for sale at the Heritage Center. While returning readers to the glory years of West View Park, Funyak also weaves the fascinating and true story of the park’s founders, the Harton family. It’s sure to take you back to school picnic days at the park!

The McCandless/Northern Allegheny Heritage Center was established in 2014 when the Town of McCandless and the North Allegheny School District launched a collaborative effort to house the longtime collection of local historian Joseph Bullick. Since the inception of the partnership, the community has shown an outpouring of support. The Heritage Center is located at 830 Aufman Lane, Wexford, PA 15090 just off of Ingomar Road. The building is a replica of a one-room schoolhouse and is home to artifacts pertaining to the Town of McCandless, North Allegheny School District, and surrounding communities.
